Why Poolside Fencing Matters in Minnesota

In the land of 10,000 lakes, nobody loves a day out on the water quite like us Minnesotans. And while we have our fair share of natural swimming holes to choose from, there still something lovely about having a pool in your own backyard.

Unlike lakes, however, pools come with a series of maintenance and security needs, including fencing. That’s because even a small body of water can pose a drowning threat to pets and young children.

During the Summer

Everyone likes to take a dip in the pool on a hot day. That includes young children who aren’t yet competent swimmers. If you’re planning to purchase an above ground pool–or you just moved into a home with an in ground pool–then you need to consider how to prevent unsupervised swimming.

At Norseman Fence, we can install security fencing that’s wide enough to save your view from the pool deck but narrow enough to prevent pets and kids from slipping through. And we can do it without messing up your existing yard or patio.

During the Winter

Most lakes and ponds freeze over during our Arctic winters. Lucky for us, that means months of ice fishing and snowmobiling on thick sheets of ice.

Swimming pools aren’t exactly the same, however, although a pool cover dusted in snow can deceive the eye into believing there’s ice. The danger is in stepping on the cover and falling in while getting tangled in material underwater on a sub-freezing day. Best not to risk it and instead install a temporary fence around the pool area from first frost to final thaw.

During Repair Work

If you ever need to empty your pool for much-needed repairs, you’ll suddenly have a gaping hole in the ground, which becomes a major hazard for anyone walking around, including you.

It’s best to prevent accidental falls by erecting a temporary chain link fence that can be removed once the pool is filled again. That way you and everyone who visits you (wildlife included) will stay safe.

These kinds of scenarios are part of our trouble-shooting process whenever we design fences for our customers. With Norseman Fencing, you’re not just getting labor and materials for the job. You’re getting highly experienced minds that work hard to solve problems for you. Now that beats doing it all yourself.
